Looking to kill some time at work or home? so starved for anything exciting? Why not waste a few hours by reading some of the following Hogville.net Articles?
What a refreshing spring and summer. Once the distaste of an average football season and disappointing basketball campaign were washed away it gave us all plenty of time to turn our eyes to the future, and the hope that it brings.
And with football squarely on the horizon it has been deafeningly quiet, especially when ... (Read the complete article.)

"What we need to do is improve on what we're doing. Do it better, do it more precise."
Coach Bobby Petrino
on Arkansas' defensive problems
Yes. Exactly.
And years from now we will understand just why this statement says so much with so few words, ironically copied today by a pseudo columnist that says so li... (Read the complete article.)

From afar we've watched quite a few games in recent memory affected by hurricanes. Seems like sometime in the 90's the NCAA world suddenly began paying attention to these beasts. With increasing frequency, several games a year now seem to be impacted by tropical systems, and for the first time one of these systems has influenced us.
Rightly so.
I love my football. And as a Razorback fan I hate the difficulty of our schedule ... (Read the complete article.)

Two Football Saturdays - Two wins for the Hogs.
Neither was pretty, and neither was easy. Two come from behind wins against perceived lesser opponents have the Hog faithful wondering where the next win will come from.
But before we look to the Texas game and beyond, a quick recap of the first two games.
It looks like the preseason "grinding" has at least helped the Hogs in the 4th quarter of both games. This group of pigs is not as talented as we are used to, but they have com... (Read the complete article.)

For about a year I had been looking forward to this day. Not losing sleep or anything, but just patiently anticipating my DirecTV system's broadcast of local stations in high definition. And while I like Dawn Scott's anchorwoman abilities and all, it's really got nothing to do with her.
Let's just face it, about half or more of all the games we watch week in and week out are shown on the local networks. And my eye... (Read the complete article.)

Saturday it started. So begins the transition from the dog days of summer to the ease of the fall. Thanks to an early start in Baton Rouge, the college football machine was in action for 14 hours straight if you timed the games just right.
And so I turned on the LSU game and headed to the couch. Armed with a diet coke in my left hand and a wondrous DVR remote in the other I read... (Read the complete article.)

How many times over the past few years have we lamented our predictable offense? And how often have we repeatedly pulled our collective hairs out over ultra-conservatism at the end of the half? Just how many times did we, as fans, call a draw only to see it play out in front of us (inuring to the pleasure of our opponent)?
It has been a tough ride for all of us. The dissension, the split fan-base, the lack of leadership, and the disharmoni... (Read the complete article.)
Aug 25th, 2008, by HOG 50 aka Jerry Reith Finally Football is here
Finally, the wait is over: the 2008 Razorback Football season is upon us! Not in the lifetimes of most fans has there ever been a season premiere like August 30, 2008. Longtime faces in the Broyles Complex have been updated, and new minds are running the program for the first time in the lives of many fans. New traditions will begin, while most of the traditions of the past will continue to be respected. Just short of a complete turnover, the slate is essentially clean for whatever we, as th... Somewhere out there, you can hear it. It’s the distant rumble of thunder, the inaudible vibration of a train miles away, and it’s not getting softer.
It is the confluence of chatter on radio shows and increasing snippets in the newspaper. The all too familiar turning of baseball season down the stretch and talk of playoffs makes it a bit more real.
And now, the whisperings of players reporting to camp suddenly makes it tangible.

At least five times I’ve begun to write about my disdain for the hypocritical treatment of new Razorback Coach Bobby Petrino from both ESPN and Atlanta alike.
Each of these times I’ve tried to craft my defense of the new coach and why his move here had everything to do with salvaging his family’s life as the Falcons’ ethical structure decayed around him.
Dec 13th, 2007, by Douglas The Bear's Growl: Negative publicity nationally actually HELPS the U of A, fans...
Let me preface this by saying that I do somewhat wish that Petrino's resignation debacle was handled a bit more differently, however, under the current circumstances, I absolutely support him for this. This post/thread, however, isn't going to dip into that aspect heavily; rather, I'm going to focus on the publicity we (as in the University of Arkansas) have been receiving.
Dec 13th, 2007, by Neils Boar Atlanta Falcon Fan and Razorback Fan looking at Bobby Petrino
As a Falcon fan, I'm not terribly disappointed to see Petrino leave. He was an odd choice for the Falcons' offensive personnel, even before we found out that Vick couldn't find anything better to do with his $100M contract and free time than to kill puppies. Petrino wants an overpowering offensive line, a power running game, a pocket passer, and playmakers at the WRs. The Falcons have none of that. Their running game was based on the Denver Bronco's schemes with two scat ... (Read the complete article.)
