FAYETTEVILLE — Wolfforth (Texas) Frenship four-star wide receiver Chase Campbell was among the elite recruits at Arkansas for an official visit this weekend.
Campbell, 6-2, 185, has strong family ties to the Razorbacks. His father Marcus Campbell played football for the Razorbacks and his mother is a former track and field All-American Deedee Brown-Campbell at Arkansas. Campbell reflected back on this visit.
“I like it a lot for sure,” Campbell said. “Just all the coaches showing a bunch of love. Them showing I’m really needed here. I could play a big part here.”
Campbell feels the visit helped Arkansas who is in a battle with many of the elite powers for his signature.
“Yes sir for sure,” Campbell said. “I have been here two times before. Was actually born here so the facilities stuck out again, the coaches and just hearing from all the coaches.”
As a junior, Campbell did a little of everything on offense for Frenship. He caught 81 passes for 1,497 yards and 18 touchdowns. He completed 3 of 6 passes for 97 yards and a pair of touchdowns. Campbell also rushed 38 times for 314 yards and six touchdowns. Ronnie Fouch is his lead recruiter and made a strong impression on Campbell.
“Yes sir it’s good,” Campbell said. “He has been down a bunch of times. He’s my guy and he was showing me a good time.”
As one would expect, Campbell still has a lot of relatives in the state.
“Yes sir,” Campbell said. “Some of my uncles came up. It was cool.”
Campbell has a busy schedule in June. Arkansas is his first official visit. He also will visit Tennessee, North Carolina, Utah, Texas Tech, Oklahoma State, Baylor and Kansas State all in June. He was asked about a timetable for a decision?
“I would say I’m going to take these official visits and then be committed before the season, but I won’t rush it,” Campbell said.
