FAYETTEVILLE — Utah State transfer Anthony Switzer is heading home to play for the Razorbacks.
Switzer, 6-0, 210, grew up in Arkansas and played for Marion High School. He started his career at Arkansas State then transferred to Utah State. He entered the transfer portal earlier this month and spent Wednesday and Thursday at Arkansas on an official visit.
“It’s the best fit for me and I’m the best fit for them,” Switzer said. “At the end of the day we mesh well together. I only have seven months left in my college football career. So that’s the biggest thing I can come in and be a good fit for the University and teammates. It’s really just about my family.”
It appears the official visit went well?
“Man the visit has been amazing,” Switzer said. “It was everything I dreamed about as a kid. I grew up in Augusta, Arkansas, so I’ve been a Hog fan all my life. This is a dream come true. Get to see the facility, see Coach Pitt (Sam Pittman), and spend time with Coach T-Will (Travis Williams) and Coach (Deron) Wilson. I finally got to meet Bobby Petrino. It’s been everything plus some.”
Switzer has spent time at linebacker and safety in his college career. He talked about what the Hogs have planned for him.
“Yes sir, they are recruiting me to play the Hog,” Switzer said. “A little bit of overhang to the boundary too. Just depends on personnel. I feel like T-Will is going to give me a chance to maximize my versatility.”
In 2023, Switzer had 85 tackles, 39 solo, eight for loss, three sacks, one interception, five quarterback hurries, a fumble recovery and four pass breakups.
He chose the Hogs over Pitt, who he canceled a visit today after Arkansas, Duke, Memphis and Colorado.
