Arkansas SS signee Gabe Fraser confirms intent to be Razorback next season

FAYETTEVILLE – The Arkansas baseball program got some positive news late Monday night when Razorback shortstop signee Gabe Fraser announced his intention to definitely play college baseball next season.

Fraser, a 6-2, 190-pound standout from Westminster (Calif.) Orange Lutheran High School, was rated as a top 150 prospect in the Major League Draft by several publications, but was not taken in the first 10 rounds.

Fraser, who chose Arkansas over Tennessee, Texas and USC among others, made his decision know via the social media platform X.

“Super blessed for the opportunities that have come my way and I have made the decision to win a national championship in Arkansas,” Fraser wrote. “Go Hogs!””

Fraser was invited to and attended the MLB Draft Combine in Phoenix on June 18-23 and was named the co-MVP of the Trinity League this past season.

The lone Arkansas signee taken so far in the three-day draft, which concludes today with rounds 11-20 beginning at 1 p.m., is Omaha (Neb.) Millard West shortstop Tyson Lewis, selected 51st overall by the Cincinnati Reds.

The Razorbacks have seen five current players taken so far the draft.

Ace pitcher and No. 5 overall pick Hagen Smith (Chicago White Sox), pitcher, 7th-round selection Mason Molina (Milwaukee) and and a trio of ninth-round choices in third baseman Jared Sprague-Lott (Oakland), catcher Hudson White (Boston) and first baseman Ben McLaughlin (Arizona) have been chosen.
