FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. (KNWA/KFTA) – There’s nothing quiet like calling your shot in sports and executing it.

Babe Ruth did it in 1932 in the World Series against the Chicago Cubs, flash forward 93 years as Arkansas running back commit Cam Settles did as well when it came to becoming the MVP of 5A state championship game for Little Rock Parkview.

“He told me earlier that we sit down, I’m going for the MVP this week,” Dee Settles said. “I’m going to make it. He said it.”

156 rushing yards, two touchdowns, and an interception, and that MVP trophy later, Cam’s prediction came true. There’s an energy that he plays with that’s unmatched. It started when he was younger, his dad’s stepdad would call the young Settles “Tigger,” like cartoon caracter.

“I was bright and bubbly as a kid, but my parents mainly play a part,” Cam said. “They push me real hard.”

Settles had offers from all around the country, but he chose the Hogs because of how real first year running backs coach Kolby Smith was.

Despite all that has transpired over the last few weeks, Settles’ commitment to the Hogs has never waivered.
