FAYETTEVILLE — Former Central Arkansas Christian quarterback Grayson Wilson is now at Conway and hopes for a successful senior year before heading to Arkansas.

Wilson, 6-3, 205, enjoyed a successful junior season at CAC helping the team to a 9-3 mark on the season. He completed 209 of 308 passes for 3,413 yards, 41 touchdowns and two interceptions. He also rushed for 837 yards and 15 touchdowns. However, following a coaching change at CAC Wilson opted to transfer to Conway. Wilson was among the eight recruits at Arkansas this past weekend for official visits.

“We would be doing the facility tours and the academic stuff throughout the day,” Wilson said. “At night they would leave us with our hosts. Mine was KJ Jackson and CJ Brown. Antonio Jordan and (Markeylin) Batton had Braylen Russell.

“So as freshmen, they could really show us and tells us what the freshman life is about. I liked just getting to hang out with them. I could ask them any questions I wanted to. They like the team and they’re excited about it and it made me excited too.”

Wilson was asked what some of his questions were about?

“Really just like how hard is school?,” Wilson said. “How’s the balance between school and football? What’s the hardest things to learn in coach (Bobby) Petrino’s offense? The thing KJ said it’s lot of stuff. A lot of the differences was protection. Having to change the Mike and ID the Mike every single play. It was things he didn’t do in high school. He said once you know the offense you know and you’re in a really good position.”

Wilson reflected back on the highlights of the official visit.

“One thing I haven’t done before was I got to see The Marshall,” Wilson said. “That’s where we’re going to stay as freshmen. Probably for me it will be for the first semester because all the freshmen have to stay there, but since I’m enrolling in one semester I can stay there one semester and then leave. But getting to see that and really getting to see what life is like outside of football with the guys, with the players.

“It’s exciting, I’m only going semester (at Conway). Really I’m focusing on high school. It’s fun to come top here and dream about what you’re going to be doing. It’s really cool that your official visit is the lest time you’ll be wearing the uniform until you’re actually on the team.”
