FAYETTEVILLE — Tyler (Texas) Legacy Class of 2027 offensive tackle Hunter Bates is hoping to impress colleges including Arkansas at camps this summer.

Bates, 6-7, 250, was one of the recruits at Arkansas on Saturday working out for Eric Mateos and the Arkansas staff. Bates made the trip to the camp along with his father, who lives in Paris, Arkansas, and talked about why he made the journey to Fayetteville.

“I want to learn what they are going to teach me and get better off of it,” Bates said. “So I can apply it.”

Bates will line up at right tackle for Legacy this fall. Bates has been a regular at Arkansas growing up a huge Razorback fan. He still is impressed by the facilities.

“I think they are cool,” Bates said. “I have been coming up here for years.”

Bates talked about what he does well on the field for Legacy.

“I’m really good when it comes to pass set,” Bates said. “Single run blocks I’m good, but I’ve got to work on my double-team blocks. I will get there eventually.”

When it comes time for Bates to choose a college he listed some of the factors that will go into his decision.

“I guess the football team itself, the coaching staff and like how they play,” Bates said. “If I think I can learn more from that specific college.”
