FORT SMITH, A.R. (KNWA/KFTA) – Former Arkansas Razorback and current Oklahoma City Thunder power forward Jaylin Williams hosted his first ever Jaylin Williams youth basketball camp Friday morning in Fort Smith.

Williams, who is graduate of Northside High School, spend the morning session with kids who ranged from six to nine years old. In the afternoon session, the clinic featured athletes from the ages of 10 to 14. The camp was something Williams always wanted to host.

“For me, I always think how I would feel if I was in their shoes and I saw an NBA player or when I was seven, their bus, all NBA player, I would probably go crazy,” Williams told reporters during the clinic’s intermission. “So I just want them to remember this and have a good time. And honestly, it’s just about having fun.”

Giving back is something Williams has done plenty of. Last year him and Isaiah Joe hosted a camp through the Thunder, but this year he is front and center hosting the camp.

“It means a lot knowing that he came from playing this camp at the same time. It’s actually great just to see the other kids do the same thing that he’s doing right now,” Williams’ father Michael told Pig Trail Nation. “that I remember back in the day, just seeing his face when he had a chance to see some of the players before him. Now the kids get to look up to him.”

Williams thanked his inner circle and mentioned how he was able to get up to Fayetteville and had a chance to connect with Coach Cal and the new staff this summer.
