FAYETTEVILLE – Arkansas’ top-rated baseball signee now has the option of taking his talents to Cincinnati.

Omaha (Neb.) Millard West shortstop Tyson Lewis was taken by the Reds Sunday night with the 51st overall pick of the Major League Baseball draft.

That pick has a shot value of $1.8 million.

Lewis, the Nebraska Gatorade Player of the Year, was a D1 Baseball first-team high school All-American and MLB’s 39th ranked prospect in the 2024 draft.

He hit .496 with 8 home runs, 41 RBIs and 31 steals his senior season.

Lewis was the second player with Razorback ties to be taken on Sunday after the Chicago White Sox picked Arkansas ace pitcher Hagen Smith with the fifth overall pick.

The draft continues with rounds 3-10 on Monday at 1 p.m. and rounds 11-20 on Tuesday at 1 p.m.
