FAYETTEVILLE — Dallas (Texas) South Oak Cliff linebacker Jayden Shelton has been committed to the Hogs since April 15 and said Sunday that pledge remains solid.

Shelton, 6-0, 200, was one of eight visitors to Arkansas over the weekend. As a junior, Shelton proved to be one of the best linebackers in Texas helping lead his team to a state runner-up finish. On the season, Shelton collected 114 tackles, 13 for loss, one sack and an interception he returned for a touchdown. He talked about how the visit went for him and his family.

“The visit overall I like the Arkansas campus,” Shelton said. “It was very beautiful. The scenery is very different than what I’m used to. It was good to get away.”

Shelton was asked had he seen the campus before he committed?

“Yes I came to the spring game,” Shelton said.

Shelton reflected back on the highlight of the weekend official visit.

“What stood out to me personally was the coaches,” Shelton said. “Seeing how they coach and they interact with the players. See how they do when they do bad and when they do good. That really turned it on for me.”

Shelton emphasized that he is solid with his commitment and credited Travis Williams, the defensive coordinator, as one of the reasons.

“Coach T-Will is like one of the coaches at my school,” Shelton said. “I feel like I can be myself around him. He makes the playbook easy and simple.”
