FAYETTEVILLE — Farmerville (La.) Union Parish defensive lineman Ari Slocum chose Arkansas on Jan. 27, but following his official visit this past weekend he’s now 1,000% committed.

Slocum, 6-4, 307, is definitely solid to the Razorbacks and the official visit certainly did nothing to hurt that.

“It was an amazing visit,” Slocum said. “Real welcomed here. Man, like I said I’m a 1,000% committed. I’m ready to get here.”

Slocum didn’t encounter any surprises while on his official visit.

“I mean not really,” Slocum said. “Everything I had already seen before so I’m used to it. About my fifth time to get down here. I’m excited and ready to get here. I’m pumped up.”

Slocum was also impressed with his player host.

“Kevin Oatis a defensive tackle,” Slocum said. “He was genuine with that. Looking forward to him being my teammate.”

How do you feel about getting to Arkansas and having one position to play instead of going both ways like in high school?

“Oh, I’m pumped,” Slocum said. “There’s no feeling like it.”

At Arkansas, Slocum will play for Deke Adams.

“Real genuine guy,” Slocum said. “I know he’s going to coach you hard, but also make sure you are good off the field.”
