FAYETTEVILLE — Arkansas needed a defensive tackle in the Class of 2024 and they found a good one in BYU transfer Danny Saili.

Saili, 6-2, 360, chose Arkansas following an official visit to Fayetteville on Sunday and Monday. Saili played last season at Hutchinson (Kan.) Community College and then signed with BYU at midterm. Saili talked about why he chose Arkansas upon entering the transfer portal.

“There’s many reasons,” Saili said. “First of all it’s SEC Football. That’s the highest of high you can play in college. I want to be developed the right way so I can achieve my dreams. They can help me and I can help them ultimately at the end of the day.”

Saili went into more detail on what attracted him to choose Arkansas as a visit and college choice.

“The defensive scheme and how the defensive line gets to go out there and show their talents,” Saili said. “They are out there to make plays and that’s what really attracted me here.”

Arkansas had no defensive tackles in the Class of 2024 prior to landing Saili.

“I saw that none of them left in the transfer portal,” Saili said. “Which really shows how good the room is. They are close enough to push each other and close enough not to leave. So I want to be part of that. I’m just excited to be a part of it.”

Saili feels the Hogs and SEC will help prepare him for the next level.

“I think there is no other conference in this country that can prepare you for anything like the SEC,” Saili said. “The SEC is going to get you right for the NFL and that’s just what I need.”
