FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. (KNWA/KFTA) — Arkansas became bowl-eligible on Saturday after a 35-14 win over Louisiana Tech.
Just one more game remains in the regular season, on the road at Missouri, before the Razorbacks learn their postseason fate.
Arkansas will play in the postseason for the 45th time and third time in the last four seasons.
But if the season ended today, where would Arkansas play?
Here’s what college football writers predict with one regular season weekend to go:
Athlon Sports: Birmingham Bowl vs. Memphis
CBS Sports: Liberty Bowl vs. Kansas State
24/7 Sports: Liberty Bowl vs. TCU
College Football Network: Birmingham Bowl vs. Pittsburgh
ESPN’s Mark Schlabach: Birmingham Bowl vs. North Carolina
ESPN’s Kyle Bonagura: Liberty Bowl vs. Baylor
Sporting News: Armed Forces Bowl vs. Army
(All of those bowl games are set to be played on December 27.)
Hogs take down Louisiana Tech, become bowl eligible
Some of the projected matchups would give Arkansas a bowl against a familiar face.
If Arkansas were to play Kansas State, it would be the third meeting between the two since 2012. The Razorbacks defeated the Wildcats in the 2012 Cotton Bowl and the 2016 Liberty Bowl.
A matchup with Baylor or TCU would renew rivalries against conference foes. Arkansas was supposed to play TCU in the Texas Bowl in 2020 but it was canceled because the Horned Frogs had COVID-related issues.
Other projected bowls would see Arkansas face off against teams it hasn’t played in more than two decades. The Razorbacks have not played North Carolina since the 1995 Carquest Bowl and Memphis since 1998.
There could also be a first-ever meeting in a bowl for Arkansas if the team draws Army or Pittsburgh as an opponent.
