FAYETTEVILLE — Arkansas is hosting its first transfer portal visitor for the upcoming period in April.
North Alabama defensive back Ashaad Williams, 6-2, 178, is a graduate transfer so he can enter the portal now and take official visits. In 2024, Williams had 26 tackles, 22 solo, two for loss, one sack, two interceptions and a quarterback hurry.
In 2023, Williams had 22 tackles, 15 solo, 3.5 for loss, five pass breakups, a forced fumble and a quarterback hurry.
Sam Pittman recently talked about what the Razorbacks want out of the spring portal including defensive backs and defensive tackles.
“Both,” Pittman said. “And I throw corner in that as well. Matter of fact I’d put any secondary position. And now we just don’t need a guy. We need help. And again, we’ll see what we have. But going today, I would say a couple of inside guys and then whomever in the back end, but I don’t really see a kicker, a punter, a snapper, nor — really right now, today — anybody offensively. Now, our numbers are skewed. We’ve got a lot more offensive guys on the team right now than we do defensive. So we’ve got to get those kind of evened up a little bit. And that’s another reason why I’m saying defense.”
Williams officially entered the transfer portal on March 6.
