FAYETTEVILLE — Owasso (Okla.) Class of 2025 three-star offensive tackle Blake Cherry has seen his team rolling this season.
On Friday in a 48-14 win over Tulsa (Okla.) Union Cherry and his teammates moved to 5-0 on the season. Cherry, 6-6, 295, committed to Arkansas on June 1 and was in attendance Saturday night when the Hogs took a 19-14 victory over No. 4 Tennessee.
On Friday night in the win, Cherry got to do what most offensive linemen only dream of he scored a touchdown. He described what happened on the play.
“I got to tight end a lot,” Cherry said. “It’s not secret what we are doing. Just run the ball as much as we can. They passed the ball to me. It definitely felt like a reward. As I scored I had never felt like that before. There was so much excitement.”
But the excitement from scoring wasn’t the end of the story on this night.
“Friday was my birthday and after I scored the fans started singing happy birthday for me,” Cherry said.
While his current team is rolling Cherry is also pleased with the direction of his future team.
“They are having a pretty good season so far,” Cherry said. “That win against Tennessee was a statement.”
Cherry and Owasso have also defeated Bixby 40-21, Jenks 42-24, Charles Page 48-17 and Broken Arrow 49-21.
