FAYETTEVILLE — Greenwood Class of 2026 defensive lineman Cody Johnson is another talented prospect for Chris Young.

Johnson, 6-4, 230, camped at Arkansas this past week and enjoyed himself. As a sophomore on the 13-0 Bulldogs, Johnson had 16 tackles, seven solo, five for loss, four quarterback hurries and forced a fumble. Following the camp, Johnson talked about why he chose to camp with the Razorbacks.

“I’ve grown up in Arkansas,” Johnson said. “I love it here. I would love to come college here and play football. It’s everyone’s dream to play D-I football. I’m just ready to put that work in.”

He also talked about how he felt the camp went for him.

“I feel like I did pretty good,” Johnson said. “Drills, get fast and stuff. One-on-one, getting that work in with other linemen that I had never gone against so it was pretty good.”

Johnson also was also impressed with the coaches at Arkansas. He talked about what he liked the most about them.

“I love the coaches,” Johnson said. “They are helpful and nice. Helped me with every drill. They told me what I did wrong and what I did right. Let me everything.”

Johnson is just one of many pieces for a loaded Greenwood squad. He is confident in the team for this fall.

“I think we will have a pretty good chance to go 13-0 again and get another ring,” Johnson said. “We’ll see.”

Young followed a legend at Greenwood in Rick Jones. The program hasn’t stepped back any at all with Young. Johnson said what all of Young’s players say about him.

“I love Coach Young,” Johnson said. “He helps everybody out a lot. I just love him.”
