FAYETTEVILLE — Louisville defensive tackle Tawfiq Thomas is visiting Arkansas and is one of the players at his position they are considering.

“The visit went very good for me,” Thomas said. “It was a very good first visit, It set a high standard for the other schools I’m going to. Coach (Kelvin) Green and Coach (Deke) Adams have done a good job recruiting me and bringing me up here and having me on this visit. I would like to thank them and all the other coaches, the head coach. every coach for real having me up here. It was a great visit and I’ll be for sure thinking about it.”

Thomas talked about what stood out for him on the visit.

“How this coaching staff is trying to build a family,” Thomas said. “Other than the facilities they’re trying to give me the best opportunity to touch the field and be good financially and be a successful man after football.”

Thomas was asked if anything about the visit surprised him?

“The facility really surprised me,” Thomas said. “It was really good. It was a big difference from Louisville. It’s way different, SEC is way better. You can really tell the difference.”

He will take an official visit to Colorado this weekend.

“I  got a visit to Colorado and I think I have two more coming up and after that,” Thomas said. “I’ll try and make my decision.”

Arkansas doesn’t have any defensive tackles committed in the Class of 2024. Sources indicate they hope to add two from the transfer portal.

He played high school football at Tampa (Fla.) Gaither.
