FAYETTEVILLE — Baltimore (Md.) Saint Frances Academy offensive lineman Edward Baker was impressed with Arkansas this weekend as he continues to take visits searching for his future college.
Baker, 6-4, 315, has been to Virginia and still has Penn State, North Carolina State and Tennssee to go. He talked about his visit to Arkansas where he was one of three offensive linemen on campus.
“A lot…I definitely got a good chance of getting better going here,” Baker said when asked what the visit did for him.”
Did anything about the Arkansas visit surprise you?
“Oh a lot, to be honest,” Baker said. “I expected it to be good, it was pretty good. I was even able to chill with the players the whole weekend, getting knowledge from them and things like that.”
Baker was hosted by one of Arkansas’ key starters.
“Fernando (Carmona),” Baker said. “I was with Corey (Robinson), too. They gave me the things that you wouldn’t see about the program, getting like the non-sugarcoated version of it.”
Sam Pittman’s role as head coach also impressed Baker. He remembered when Pittman was an offensive line coach highly regarded in the business.
“Yeah, definitely, because he has a great track record,” Baker said. “We were talking about his time at Georgia and he was telling us all the guys he had, like 17 first rounders alone. You know, he’s top five greatest o-line coaches of all time.”
Baker also likes that Eric Mateos was Pittman’s hand-picked choice to coach this line.
“He’s a younger coach, so, I already know I can really learn him, you know, how to train,” Baker said.
