SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. (KNWA/KFTA) — Former Razorback defensive end Dre Greenlaw is expected to make his return to the San Francisco 49ers’ active roster ahead of the team’s Thursday night game against the Los Angeles Rams.

Greenlaw was activated more than 10 months after suffering a ruptured Achilles tendon in Super Bowl LVIII against the Kansas City Chiefs.

He injured himself as he was running onto the field in the second quarter of the game. Greenlaw grabbed his leg and collapsed before being carted off the field.

CBS reported at the time that Greenlaw was emotional coming off the field and was unable to put weight on his leg. Prior to the game, Greenlaw had been dealing with Achilles tendon issues.

Greenlaw was limited to three regular-season games in 2021 because of a groin injury, but he was back for that postseason. He’s been a regular starter since he was a rookie.

He was drafted by the 49ers in the fifth round of the 2019 NFL Draft out of Arkansas and played at Fayetteville High School.

The Associated Press contributed to this report.
