FAYETTEVILLE — Mobile (Ala.) Williamson Class of 2025 three-star safety Taijh Overton committed to Arkansas on April 25, but got to take his official visit to Fayetteville this weekend.
Overton, 6-2, 180, was impressed with what he saw in Fayetteville during the official visit.
“I had an awesome time spending time with the players and coaches,” Overton said. “I got to see a good side of the city I can’t wait until I come up here.”
Overton talked about the highlight of the visit and had a difficult time narrowing it down to only one or two things.
“It’s kind of hard,” Overton said. “I had a lot of fun on the tour. The best part was probably the dinner with everybody (in the stadium).”
Overton admitted sitting in the stadium where he will play his college football was a great experience.
“It was pretty cool,” Overton said. “They had the screen on with the highlights. I can’t wait to be a part of that.”
Overton has good height and range to play in back end of the secondary.
“They’re kinda saying they want me to play the Hog and both safeties,” Overton said.
In the Arkansas secondary, he will play for Marcus Woodson and Deron Wilson in a defense coordinated by Travis Williams.
“Those are awesome guys,” Overton said. “All the coaches. They’ve got a lot of knowledge I’m ready to soak up. I can’t wait for them to be able to coach me and play on the team.”
While Overton was the only visitor previously committed to the Hogs he did do some recruiting including a four-star cornerback from East St. Louis (Ill.).
“Charles Bass,” Overton said. “I would say it went pretty good. He’s a very nice person. He will probably come around sometime.”
As a junior, Overton had 116 tackles, nine for loss, two sacks, 19 pass breakups, three interceptions, forced a fumble and recovered one. He has the nickname Hammer Time on the field.
“I do everything well,” Overton said. “I would say the best part of my game is my hit problem. I tackle.”
Overton was one of 13 official visitors at Arkansas this past weekend.
