FAYETTEVILLE — Arkansas has landed Florida State transfer Trever Jackson following an official visit to Fayetteville.
Jackson, 6-3, 187, talked to Hogville and Pig Trail Nation why he chose the Razorbacks crediting Sam Pittman and Bobby Petrino.
“The coaching staff,” Jackson said. “Petrino, Coach Pittman. They always have that great energy. Family ties and great coaching.”
Jackson was a four-star recruit out of Winter Garden (Fla.) Jones. He redshirted at Florida State in 2024 and will have four years of eligibility at Arkansas. He did play in one game and rush for two yards. At Arkansas he will learn from Petrino for a year behind starter Taylen Green.
“That’s a great position to be in,” Jackson said. “Just to come in, learn under Petrino and then next year take over would be a great thing for me. That’s something I’m very interested in.”
Jackson arrived at Arkansas on Wednesday before leaving on Thursday. He enjoyed his time in Fayetteville.
“The visit was great,” Jackson said. “It’s a beautiful place. This is my first time here. The people are amazing. I just love the coaches.”
Was Fayetteville and the University of Arkansas nicer than you thought it would be?
“Oh yeah, for sure,” Jackson said. “I didn’t know that weight room would be that long. One of the longest weight rooms in college. That was crazy. It’s pretty cool. The indoor is amazing.”
What was the highlight?
“The food,” Jackson said. “We had big steaks and it was so good. The food was amazing.”
In the Class of 2025, Jackson was rated a four-star recruit. The 247Composite rated him the nation’s No. 22 quarterback, ESPN rated him No. 30 and On3 placed him at the No. 35 quarterback nationally.
The current Arkansas quarterbacks are Green, redshirt freshman KJ Jackson, true freshman Grayson Wilson and redshirt sophomore Blake Boda.
Jackson is the fifth pledge to Arkansas in this portal opening.
