FAYETTEVILLE — Pflugerville (Texas) tight end Jaivion Martin is one of the highest-rated recruits in Arkansas’ class and is considered an outstanding recruit at his position.

Martin, 6-4, 245, committed to Arkansas on May 2. As a junior, Martin caught 51 passes for 804 yards and 11 touchdowns. In very limited action on defense, Martin had eight tackles and one sack. Martin provided feedback on the official visit.

“It was pretty fun,’ Martin saId. “I got to see around the whole campus. I got to see everyone. I was hanging out with all the tight ends. I got to fit in with them. I got to see all the coaches. They all got excited when I walked in. I figured I was just coming back home. Going from Texas to here. My family will definitely be able to come up here a lot. This visit was a great experience.”

What makes Arkansas feel like home?

“The coaches have already said they are going to uphold their part and keep me going,” Martin said. “My mom was doing that while I was at home. For them to extend that and keep pushing me. I feel comfortable here.”

Martin said the coaches didn’t really talk to him about how they plan to use him. But explained what he expects.

“We weren’t watching film that much,” Martin said. “Me, my mom and Coach (Morgan) Turner were talking. I will be a blocking tight end and receiving tight end. So I will do it all.”

Turner was Martin’s lead recruiter and has made a strong impression on him.

“Definitely a great coach and great person,” Martin said. “He is a great mentor.”

In addition to Turner, Martin is excited to play in Bobby Petrino’s offense and also Sam Pittman.

“Bobby Petrino is a great coach and knows what he is doing,” Martin said. “He is a genius and Coach Pitt.”
