FAYETTEVILLE — Gaffney (S.C.) quarterback Jayvon Gilmore committed to Arkansas on Aug. 1, 2024, prior to his junior season and took an official visit to his future school this past weekend.

Gilmore, 6-5, 195, went on to have a very good season after making his pledge to the Hogs. He was named the MVP of his group at the Under Armour Next Camp in Charlotte, N.C. As a junior, Gilmore completed 180 of 297 passes for 2,510 yards, 26 touchdowns and eight interceptions. He rushed 80 times for 176 yards and two touchdowns. Gilmore helped lead Gaffney to a 10-2 mark in 2024.

This weekend he got to see and learn more about his future home in Fayetteville and talked about the highlight.

“Definitely be around the guys and some of the football players,” Gilmore said. “Hanging around them and understanding what this program is all about. There’s nothing better and honestly just getting around Coach (Bobby) Petrino and Coach (Miles) Fishback. Hanging out them and just the great staff. Just no better place.”

The Hogs had six official visitors in who were uncommitted. Gilmore recruited them.

“Definitely was able to be around a lot of recruits and talk to some guys,” Gilmore said. “We’re going to get a lot of good guys and more.”

The Hogs had other visitors from his area this weekend. Running back Jordan Avinger is from South Carolina and linebacker Caleb Gordon from North Carolina.

“We were able to get around three Carolina kids including myself so that was definitely amazing,” Gilmore said.

Gaffney was 10-2 in 2024, but Gilmore is aiming higher in 2025.

“Definitely getting the ball out of my hands faster and being a true leader,” Gilmore said. “I feel like sometimes I struggled last year but there’s always room for improvement. I want to work on those things.”

In what way do you plan to try and improve your leadership?

“Continue to be around the guys trusting them and going out with them and building trust,” Gilmore said.

Gilmore has a lot of scholarship offers. Still solid to the Hogs?

“Yes sir, still locked in,” Gilmore said. “Still a Hog.”

Gilmore got to hang out some with Taylen Green and KJ Jackson. He’s tall like Green and talked about his impressions of the Arkansas QB.

“Definitely, especially with his size and his arm reminds me a lot of myself,” Gilmore said.
