FAYETTEVILLE — Tupelo (Miss.) running back Jaeden “JJ” Hill is a key target for the Razorbacks who have yet to land a player at his position in this recruiting class.

Hill, 6-0, 220, committed to Mississippi State June 24, 2024, but is looking at Arkansas and others. As a junior, Hill rushed 208 times for 2,228 yards and 32 touchdowns. He also caught 15 passes for 285 yards and two touchdowns. Following his weekend at Arkansas, Hill commented on how it went for him.

“It was good, definitely wasn’t what I expected,” Hill said. “When I first thought of Arkansas, I thought it was going to be a bunch of trees, farms and stuff. I got here and it was like amazing. I’ve seen a bunch of new things. Everything down here is great, the coaching staff, the stadium, facilities, everything was new and looked good.”

Hill chose the highlight of his Arkansas trip.

“Seeing everything, not expecting everything to look like this,” Hill said. “The people, the school, everything around here is good.”

Following his trip to Fayetteville, Hill talked about what is next.

“I know this one, then I’ve got Auburn, Tennessee, Mississippi State and that’ll be my last visit,” Hill said.

Hill credited Arkansas’ Sam Pittman for helping peak his interest in a visit to Fayetteville.

“This increased it a lot because I’ve always liked Coach Pittman,” Hill said. “I told him, I was like, why not give him a chance? He came to my school a while back and stayed there for like an hour-and-a-half. When he first came, I felt a connection between me and him. So I was like ‘I’ve got to come down here and give him a chance and see what everything’s like.’ So I came down here, I see everything looks good.”

Kolby Smith coaches the Arkansas running backs and also has made a good impression on Hill. Hill also liked the message from Smith.

“He said he likes to run the ball, so I like that,” Hill said.
