FAYETTEVILLE — Former Michigan State defensive end Ken Talley took an official visit to Arkansas and was impressed with what the Hogs had to offer.
Talley, 6-3, 256, fits what the Razorbacks are looking for in a defensive end. He talked about the official visit and what he liked.
“The visit was amazing,” Talley said. “Love the campus and staff. Coach (Deke Adams) telling me how I would get better next year.”
For portal players so much of the process involves fit since they don’t normally have four or five years. That is where Arkansas got high marks from Talley.
“I can see myself fitting in here and getting into the scheme,” Talley said. “Really striving and showcasing my skills here.”
Arkansas lost defensive end Landon Jackson who will enter the NFL Draft. Others ran out of eligibility or entered the transfer portal. So the Razorbacks does have a need for defensive ends.
“Gives me an opportunity with guys leaving and that definitely appeals to me,” Talley said. “But I’ve still go to come in and compete for my spot.”
Talley didn’t hesitate to point to Adams when it came down to the highlight of the visit.
“Highlight of the visit was Coach Adams and getting in that film room,” Talley said. “Learning the scheme and seeing how he plans to use me in the scheme.”
Talley is a good example of the difference of a prospect like him as a four-star out of high school opposed to now.
“It’s a little different,” Talley said. “I am not here to see the facilities and put the jersey on, but I had to, but I’m just trying to see football.”
Talley was a four-star recruit out of Philadelphia (Penn.) Northeast High School. He signed with Penn State out of high school, then transferred to Michigan State. The Razorbacks are looking to sign two defensive ends and a pair of tackles from the portal.
