FAYETTEVILLE — Denton (Texas) Guyer Class of 2025 defensive tackle Xavier Ukponu feels needed at Arkansas and likes the plans Deke Adams and staff have for him.

Ukponu, 6-3, 300, was among the 13 official visitors to Arkansas and when he left Sunday he talked about what impressed him.

“It was a great visit, I had a great time,” Ukponu said. “The coaching staff showed me a lot of love. They just told me that they needed me down here, they need D-tackles in this class.”

At Arkansas, he would play on Adams’ defensive line.

“I think he’s a great coach, he’s an amazing coach,” Ukponu said. “He’s coached a lot of really elite guys. I think he’s a great guy, too. He’s a family guy. I like that.”

Travis Williams is the defensive coordinator and the scheme he has impressed Ukponu.

“Yes sir, it’s basically the same thing we run at my high school, except more advanced here,” Ukponu said.

At his size and athleticism, Ukponu is capable of being versatile on the defensive line it seems.

“Yeah, they told me I can play anywhere,” Ukponu said. “I have a good build for somebody who’s 300 pounds.”

Ukponu has 35 scholarship offers from most of the nation’s top schools. After this he talked about his remaining visit plans.

“I’m going to Florida on the 14th, then LSU on the 21st,” Ukponu said.

He’s a consensus three-star recruit with the four major recruiting services despite offers from all over the country and impressive film. Rivals.com rates him the No. 88 prospect The Lone Star State regardless of position.
