FAYETTEVILLE — Former LSU and Maryland offensive lineman Marcus Dumervil visited Arkansas on Friday and Saturday.
Dumervil, 6-5, 305, started for LSU in 2021 when they faced the Razorbacks. He spent two days visiting the Hogs. He praised Sam Pittman.
“I feel like the visit is going great,” Dumervil said. “Feels great to be down here in Fayetteville. Coach Pittman and the rest of his staff is magnificent. It feels great out here, the weather’s not too bad, not too cold. Not yet. But everything has been going great and I’m really enjoying my stay.”
Since he faced the Razorbacks while starting for LSU in a 16-13 overtime loss in Baton Rouge he wanted to see what Fayetteville was like.
“The highlight honestly is, you know, I played against Arkansas on the away side, so being able to see the home side of Arkansas and what Fayetteville has to offer has really been a highlight of the trip,” Dumervil said.
Dumervil talked about what stood out on the visit.
“I would say just seeing the facilities and interacting with the coaches,” Dumervil said. “It’s really a family atmosphere here, the facilities are second to none, so it’s really a gem in the middle of nowhere honestly.”
Right now, Arkansas is one of three schools in the mix for him.
“I went to UCF right before the holiday break, and I’m planning on going to UNLV,” Dumervil said.
While he’s not ready to announce a new school, he did say what the visit to Fayetteville did for him.
“I mean, I’m not really ready to make a decision right now, but I came across everything I wanted to see and know about the visit, so the visit has really been beneficial to me,” Dumervil said.
Dumervil has had the benefit of playing in both the SEC and Big Ten. He compared the two conferences.
“I feel like the SEC and Big Ten are real similar conferences,” Dumervil said. “The differences are maybe like the speed and the skill. The SEC is faster than the Big Ten. But, both conferences are great football and there’s great players in both conferences, so it’s really even to me.”
Arkansas currently has signed four offensive linemen from the transfer portal. They hope to add one more.
