FAYETTEVILLE, AR (Pig Trail Nation)- It was a childhood dream to play for the Razorbacks. It was also a childhood dream to play professional baseball.
Arkansas pitcher Will McEntire has thought about his future since the 2024 season ended in June. He realized, one of the his dreams could wait a little longer.
“It’s an exclusive club and I am very grateful to be a part of that club that gets to say they’ve played for the Hogs,” McEntire told our Alyssa Orange in a sit-down interview on Thursday.
It was the deciding factor of the 5th year senior’s decision to step on the mound at Baum-Walker Stadium for one more year.

“I thought about what I would regret more. Looking back 10-20 years , would I regret potentially not playing professionally, or not using my last year here. I knew I would regret not using my last year here, giving it one more run,” adds McEntire.
McEntire looks ahead to his final chapter as an opportunity. An opportunity to get back to Omaha. An opportunity to win a national title. An opportunity to be the pitcher he wants to be after a 2024 season that taught him a lot about himself.
“I’ve learned that I’m tougher than that. It was just tough you know?” as he reflects on the past season, “Usually it’s like a bad outing and then you rebound. But I just felt like for a month or so, it just was bad outing, bad outing, and then maybe a little bit better at the end. But just, you know, being able to rebound and respond better is something I can definitely learn.”
He’s the oldest guy in the locker room, but that brings experience.
“Just be adaptable. For a team to be able to win, guys ahve to be able to fill any role at any given time.”
Time is what he has with the start of the 2025 season over 6 months away. Time he can spend with a little less weight off his shoulders now that everyone knows what his future looks like.
