PTN Extra: More scholarships for athletes and an awkward opening statement

FAYETTEVILLE, Ar. (KNWA/KFTA) – In this week’s PTN Extra, Courtney Mims and Mike Irwin talk about the reports coming out on Wednesday about the NCAA increasing the scholarship limits for multiple sports.

Yahoo Sports reporting that, “power conference commissioners finalized new roster-size limits that pave the way for athletic departments to distribute millions of dollars in new scholarships to athletes.”

In this new model, which would begin ahead of the 2025-26 season, football will receive 105 total scholarships, 20 more than they previously had.

Basketball would receive two more scholarships putting them at 15, baseball would get 22.3 more putting them at 34 total scholarships, softball would get 13 more putting them at 25 total scholarships and volleyball getting six more putting them at 18 scholarships.
