Razorback sprinters get silver, bronze in 4×400-meter mixed relay

PARIS (KNWA) — A pair of Razorback sprinters won medals in the 4×400-meter mixed relay at a rainy Stade de France on Saturday.

Kaylyn Brown and Amber Anning both ran the anchor legs for the United States and Great Britain, respectively.

Brown went 49.19 on the final leg after taking the baton with the Americans leading but the team of Vernon Norwood, Shamier Little, Bryce Deadmon and Brown would finish as runner-ups to the Netherlands as Femke Bol surged from fourth to first. Bol ran the anchor leg for the Netherlands in 47.93 seconds.

Razorback sprinter helps United States to world record in 4×400-meter mixed relay

The U.S. runner-up finish came one day after setting the world record at 3:07.41. The Netherlands won the event at 3:07.43, just 0.2 seconds from tying the world record.

Anning ran a 48.81 anchor leg split to move the British into third place for bronze in a national record of 3:08.81.

Anning spoke with Alyssa Orange from Nexstar’s KNWA about running against a fellow Razorback and said, “It was so funny seeing my teammate but I’m so proud of her. We’ve both come a long with a medal in our first Olympics.”

Brown will also be competing in the 200-meter with qualifying starting on August 4. Anning will compete in the 400-meter and qualifying for that event will be on August 5.
