
Report: Arkansas’ Bobby Petrino candidate at Charlotte

FAYETTEVILLE — Bobby Petrino could be returning to the ranks of head coach according to a report at FootballScoop at Charlotte.
Petrino served as offensive coordinator at Arkansas this season and helped the offense improve dramatically over 2023. Petrino also served as head football coach at Arkansas from 2008-11.
Charlotte was 5-7, 4-4 in the American Athletic Conference, The 49ers recently fired Biff Poggi. According to FootballScoop, Petrino is among the five finalists.
The others are Ohio head coach Tim Albin, Western Carolina head coach Kerwin Bell, current Charlotte interim head coach Tim Brewster and NC State defensive coordinator Tony Gibson.
Petrino was 34-17 in four seasons at Arkansas as head coach. He also has been the head coach at Louisville, Atlanta Falcons, Western Kentucky and Missouri State. He had two stints at Lousville.
Petrino is regarded as one of the elite play caller in football at any level. Charlotte is a Group of 5 program.
