FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. (KNWA/KFTA) — CBS College Basketball insider Jon Rothstein is reporting that Boston Celtics Director of Scouting Remy Cofield is leaving the NBA front office and headed for Arkansas.

Rothstein sent out a post on X saying that Cofield is set to become the general manager for the Arkansas athletics department.

Cofield became Boston’s Director of Scouting in 2022. But he’s climbed the front office ranks in the NBA since 2012 when he started with the Celtics as a Corporate Sales Executive.

In 2013, he became a basketball operations assistant in Boston and six years later, he became a college scout for the Celtics and the general manager of the Maine Red Claws (now known as the Maine Celtics) of the NBA G League.

According to his LinkedIn profile, Cofield graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree from Princeton University – where he played basketball for two seasons. He then earned a Master of Business Administration from Bentley University.

KNWA/FOX24 has reached out to the University of Arkansas for comment on this story and have not yet heard back.

This is a developing story and this article will be updated as we learn more.
