FAYETTEVILLE – Reese Robinett racked up three doubles, including the walk-off winner in the eighth inning, to power No. 2 Arkansas (33-5) to a 13-3 run-rule victory against UAPB (8-27) Tuesday night at Baum-Walker Stadium.
With the win, the Razorbacks improved to 23-2 overall against in-state opponents since 1960, including a perfect 7-0 mark against the Golden Lions.
Arkansas also improved to 33-5 overall on the year to match their best 38-game overall start to a campaign for the second time in the last two season and for the third time in program history (1989 & 2024).
Making his first start since April 1, 2023, Robinett finished the game 3-for-5 with three doubles and the game-winning RBI in the breakout performance Tuesday night. The Kennett, Mo., native became the first Razorback with three doubles in a game since Trevor Ezell accomplished the feat against TCU on June 1, 2019, in the NCAA Fayetteville Regional.
With Arkansas ahead 12-3 in the bottom of the eighth, Robinett hammed his third and final double of the night into right center, scoring Kendall Diggs all the way from first and lifting the Razorbacks to their 11th run-rule victory of the season.
Prior to Robinett’s heroics, four Hog home runs set the stage for the walk-off win. Wehiwa Aloy (3-for-5, HR, 2 RBI), Zane Becker (1-for-3, HR, 2 RBI), Kuhio Aloy (4-for-5, HR, 4 RBI) and Cam Kozeal (2-for-4, HR, 3 RBI) each connected on home runs earlier in the game to put Arkansas in position to secure its run-rule victory against UAPB in the eighth inning.
Wehiwa Aloy connected on his team-best 13th home run of the season, and Becker, a true freshman, collected the first homer of his collegiate career. Kuhio Aloy hit his 11th home run and raised his season slash line to .387/.476/.697 with his four-hit night, while Kozeal blasted his eighth of the year and improved his team-high slash line to .397/.443/.683.
On the mound, starter Tate McGuire fired three innings of three-run ball with five strikeouts to earn his second win of the season. In relief of McGuire, Colin Fisher (2.0 IP, 1 SO), Will McEntire (2.0 IP, 3 SO) and Steele Eaves (1.0 IP, 1 SO) combined for five shutout innings with five strikeouts to help lock down Arkansas’ run-rule victory against UAPB.
The Razorbacks, 12-3 through their first 15 games of SEC play, return to conference action this weekend at Baum-Walker Stadium. Arkansas will welcome in Texas A&M (21-15, 6-9 SEC), riding a seven-game winning streak, for a three-game series with first pitch in the opener scheduled for 7 p.m. Thursday, April 17, on SEC Network.
