Fayetteville, AR (KNWA/KFTA) – Sanu Jallow-Lockhart has put together a historic indoor and outdoor season for Arkansas track and field in 2025.

Jallow-Lockhart became the first Arkansas woman to break two minutes in the 800 indoors and outdoors at the Tyson Invitational back in February.

“When I crossed the line, honestly I wasn’t even thinking I was just like come on,” Jallow-Lockhart said. “It was 1:55, 1:56, and then I heard him say 1:59, before I even had a chance to turn around and look at the clock, I was just like ‘let’s go'”.

Jallow-Lockhart represented The Gambia in the 2024 Paris Olympics. While she didn’t advance to finals, she set a new national record at the games.

“Being in Paris with a lot of people, a lot of my idols and knowing I was in the youngest in the field,” Jallow-Lockhart said. “Just to know I had the opportunity to be there with them, it kind of boosted my confidence a lot this year.”

The Arkansas junior is boosted by a rock-solid support system behind her. She moved to the United States when she was nine and was adopted by her high school coach when she was a sophomore.

“My family is everything to me, my brothers motivate me to be the best version of me,” Jallow-Lockhart said. “[There’s] just a whole lot of achievements in the family, so I kind of wanted to be a part of that family and keep the legacy going.”

Recently, Sanu cemented that legacy by adding ‘Lockhart’ to her own last name. Her adopted family makes it to nearly every meet she competes in.
