FAYETTEVILLE — Hitchcock (Texas) four-star wide receiver Kelshaun Johnson was at Arkansas this weekend for an official visit and liked what he got to see.
Johnson, 5-11, 180, has over 25 offers to choose from and talked about what he liked about Arkansas.
“It went really well, man,” Johnson said. “This is my first time being here, so I really just wanted to see how they would separate from other schools. They really put themselves apart from different schools, so it’s going to be really exciting to see where I go now.”
Johnson liked several aspects of the visit, but talked about what impressed him the most.
“How they were talking about all the coaches,” Johnson said. “They said they really good coaches, they believe they’re going to do good this year, so I’m excited to see what they do this season.”
If Johnson came to Arkansas he would play for Ronnie Fouch at wide receiver.
“Really I think he got a lot of players over the years,” Johnson said. “He coached Lamar Jackson, I really believe that he knows what he’s doing. Just how confident he is in his players, and I believe in his offense, with me, it’d be really special how I’d play in his offense.”
Bobby Petrino also is someone that Johnson is familiar with and how he runs his offense.
“We were watching film,” Johnson said. “He was showing me how he’d move me and stuff, so it was really stuff that I’d really like.”
Johnson was asked about what the visit did for Arkansas’ chances?
“Really, I came for a reason,” Johnson said. “This is one of my top schools, so we’re going to see how all the other schools (compare) when I take my OV’s.”
Johnson is a consensus four-star recruit with all of the major recruiting services.
