
Three Razorback victories highlight final day of Mt. SAC Relays

WALNUT, Calif. – Razorback sprinter Jordan Anthony produced a winning time of 9.98 seconds in the Elite 100m at the 65th Mt. SAC Relays and broke the Arkansas school record of 10.03 set by Lance Lang at the 2024 Olympic Trials.
Anthony, who was born in the Los Angeles area, dedicated the performance to an aunt who recently passed away. He improved his previous best of 10.14 from 2022 in defeating the field.
The 9.98 ranks No. 3 in the world for 2025 and second best among collegians with wind-legal marks.
In winning the second of three sections, Anthony was aided by a 1.2 wind. Runner-up in the section with a10.26 was Taylor Banks of USC with Ian Dossman third in 10.32.
Professional sprinter Ilias Garcia won the first section in 10.05 (1.5 wind) to finish second overall. Pro sprinter Benjamin Azamati won the third section in 10.07 (0.1 wind) and placed third overall with Jaleal Croal of South Florida runner-up in the section at 10.14.
Razorbacks Rivaldo Marshall and Tyrice Taylor teamed up for a 1-2 finish in the 800m as each generated a career best to defeat professional Craig Engels (1:46.00). Marshall won the race in 1:45.59, moving to No. 3 on the UA all-time list, while Taylor claimed second in 1:45.81, No. 5 on the UA all-time list.
On the Jamaican all-time list, Marshall is now No. 6 performer while Taylor is the No. 9 performer. They also rank fourth and fifth among collegians this outdoor season.
Closing out the collegiate portion of the Mt. SAC Relays, the Razorback foursome of Brandon Battle, Jaden Smith, Steven McElroy, and TJ Tomlyanovich delivered scintillating victory in 3:01.82 to edge past Arizona State (3:01.85).
That time is the fourth fastest time in the world for 2025 and ranks second fastest among collegians. It’s also No. 5 on the UA all-time list.
Battle (45.5) and Smith (45.4) had Arkansas in contention, and were in the lead during McElroy’s carry. His 46.02 third leg maintained the lead at the final exchange. South Florida and BYU moved ahead of Arkansas with 200m remaining. Then Arizona State joined the fray with 100m left.
South Florida led the pack with 50m remaining with the Sun Devils second and Arkansas third. Arizona State and the Razorback both passed South Florida. Then it came down to the lean at the finish. Tomlyanovich split 45.67 and out-leaned ASU for the victory.
Earlier in the meet McElroy won his section of the 400m in 45.59 and finished fourth overall as he improved his No. 10 position on the UA all-time list. Smith clocked 45.71, Tomlyanovich ran 45.81 and Battle had an outdoor PR of 45.85.
In the 110m hurdles, TJ Caldwell finished second in his section with a 13.58 to place fourth overall. He is now equal No. 8 on the UA all-time list. Teammates Brevin Sims (13.81) and Karamoko Sacko (13.95) were fourth and sixth in the section.
Arkansas started the day with a 39.15 as runner-up in the 4 x 100m relay to South Florida’s 38.87. The Razorback line-up included Connor Washington, Tevijon Williams, Smith and Athony.
Henry Kiner finished sixth in the tiple jump with a mark of 48-9 (14.86). Uroy Ryan placed seventh in the long jump with a mark of 24-11 (7.59). Scottie Vines and Joshua Blakely both cleared 6-10.75 (2.10) in the high jump, placing equal ninth and 13th.
