FAYETTEVILLE — Birmingham (Ala.) Parker Class of 2025 four-star cornerback Timothy Merritt committed to Miami on June 9, but did take an official visit to Arkansas this weekend.

Merritt, 6-1, 189, reflected back on how the visit to Arkansas went for him.

“It went good,” Merritt said. “Coaches are amazing here. They keep their word and do as they say. My mom enjoyed it and my family.”

What was the highlight of the visit?

“Just the hospitality and the way they treat you,” Merritt said. “The facility is nice, but like they always say that isn’t the best thing they’ve got. The best thing they’ve got is that togetherness, chemistry and love for another. The love in the building and you can feel it every time you walk in there.”

Merritt, having just committed to Miami earlier this month, talked about how he’s handling his recruiting, still open at least to some degree, considering he visited the Razorbacks this weekend.

“Yes, to some degree,” Merritt said. “If I wasn’t I wouldn’t be taking these visits for no reason. but Miami that’s where I’m at right now.”

Despite that, Merritt did acknowledge the Arkansas visit was good. Did the visit help the Hogs?

“Yes, no doubt,” Merritt said.

Deron Wilson, Arkansas’ secondary coach along with Marcus Woodson, was another factor in Merritt visiting.

“Coach Wilson man that’s my dawg since I first met him,” Merrritt said. “There’s always been love. He’s always treated me like I was one of his before I even got here. He treated my mom and family nice. I think that’s what matters in this recruiting process.”

Merritt is closing in on 30 offers.
