FAYETTEVILLE — Covington (Ga.) Newton Class of 2025 defensive lineman RyShawn Perry is committed to UCF, but Arkansas is trying to make a push to land him.
Perry, 6-3, 275, committed to Gus Malzahn’s UCF squad on April 7, but Arkansas convinced him to take an official visit to Fayetteville this weekend. Perry talked about how it went.
“It was great, I like it,” Perry said. “I like it.”
What was the favorite part about the visit?
“The energy and stuff, it was good,” Perry said. “Seeing the stadium and stuff, getting hype with the coaches and stuff, it was lit.”
At Arkansas, Perry would play for Deke Adams on the defensive line. That is something Perry finds appealing to him.
“He’s a great coach, real cool dude,” Perry said. “He’s a family man off the field. I’m just trying to get to know him, know him a little more and stuff like that.”
Perry has 25 offers and many felt like he would end up at Auburn, but at this time he has one more visit in mind after Arkansas.
“I’ve just got UCF,” Perry said. “I’m supposed to be going in July, I don’t know the exact date in July.”
Perry is a consensus three-star recruit with all the major services. The consensus rating for him is the No. 52 defensive lineman in the nation and No. 60 prospect in Georgia with On3.
