OMAHA, Nebr. (KNWA/KFTA) – Following No. 3 national seed Arkansas’ 4-1 loss to LSU, head coach Dave Van Horn, sophomore pitcher Gabe Gaeckle, and redshirt sophomore Reese Robinett spoke to the media.

After the first inning, it looked like the game would be a pitcher’s duel between Zach Root and Kade Anderson. The second inning Arkansas got in trouble early. Following two walks from Root, LSU was able to capitalize and score three runs and never looked back.

Root was pulled in the second and was relieved by Gaeckle who was stellar. A career high six innings pitched and 10 strike outs.

Arkansas could only muster four hits on the day against Anderson and Casan Evans. One came in the form of a solo home run in the bottom of the sixth inning, but it was not enough.

The Hogs will now play in the loser’s bracket after falling for the first time in the postseason. They’ll take on Murray State on Monday afternoon at 1p.m.
