FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. (KNWA/KFTA) – Following No. 3 national seed Arkansas’ 4-3 win in game one of the super-regional against Tennessee, head coach Dave Van Horn, junior starting pitcher Zach Root, and sophomore catcher Ryder Helfrick spoke to the media.

Arkansas got on the board first thanks to great base running from Cam Kozeal. He scored on a wild pitch from Tennessee starter Marcus Phillips. The Vols answered in the fifth with a two-run homer from Dean Curley to lead 3-2 in the top of the fifth inning.

With two outs in the bottom of that inning, Ryder Helfrick delivered the answer with a 312-foot home run that scored him and Logan Maxwell to give the Hogs the lead for good.

Zach Root was stellar for the Razorbacks in seven innings on the mound. He struck out five and only allowed one hit on the day. Gabe Gaeckle was just as good in relief striking out two hitters to get the save in game one.

Gage Wood is set to get the start for the Razorbacks against Liam Doyle in game two. First pitch is slated for 2p.m. on ESPN.

Hear from Van Horn, Root, and Helfrick in the video next to the headline.
