FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. (KNWA/KFTA) – Following No. 3 national seed Arkansas baseball’s 8-3 regional championship win against Creighton, head coach Dave Van Horn, junior pitcher Gage Wood, and sophomore catcher Ryder Helfrick all spoke to the media.
Arkansas got out to a quick lead in the bottom of the first with a two-run homer from Logan Maxwell. From there, the Hogs kept rolling.
Justin Thomas Jr., and Ryder Helfrick added home runs of their own to push the Hogs lead to 6-0 by the end of the third inning.
Gage Wood was phenomenal in the start for the Razorbacks. In six innings of work, he struck out 13 Bluejays while only allowing three runs on three hits.
Gabe Gaeckle came in relief in the seventh inning and silenced any chance at a Creighton comeback with three innings of two hit ball with seven strikeouts.
The Razorbacks will now face the winner of Tennessee and Wake Forest’s winner take all game next weekend in the Super Regional here in Fayetteville.
