San Francisco, Calif. (KNWA/KFTA) – Following 10-seed Arkansas men’s basketball’s 85-83 loss in overtime to 3-seed Texas Tech, head coach John Calipari, graduate guard Johnell Davis, and freshman guard Karter Knox spoke to the media.
Arkansas came out of the gates hot starting the game 4/4 from behind the arch. Arkansas took a 38-31 lead at halftime behind a strong first half led by Davis with 14 points. The Red Raiders offense took a bit to get going as JT Toppin was held in check with only eight points in the first half.
Arkansas led by as many as 16 points in the second half before Darrion Williams and the Red Raiders stormed all the way back to send the game to overtime tied at 72. The 16 point lead was the second largest blown lead in the history of the Sweet 16. The Red Raiders went on a 16-3 run to close regulation.
Arkansas had an opportunity to tie the game on the final possession but DJ Wagner failed to make the game tying shot with the clock striking zero. The Hogs had a total of four bench points.
Davis led the Hogs in scoring with 30 points while Knox added 20 in the loss.
