FAYETTEVILLE — Former Florida wide receiver Andy Jean has chosen Arkansas.
Jean, 6-1, 178, is transferring to Arkansas from Pitt. He left the Gators at midterm to transfer to Pitt. He went back in the transfer portal during this 10-day window. He talked about why Razorbacks.
“I feel like I’ll be a Razorback because it feels like at home,” Jean said. “Everything, the coaches here and the city here is nice. Coach (Sam) Pittman is a great dude. I spoke with him for like about 40 minutes. It was about family, about life and the trials and tribulations I’ve been through and he shared some with me. So when a person shares their trials and tribulations with you it shows you they’re human and they understand what you have been through.”
Jean spent Friday and Saturday at Arkansas on an official visit. Jean enjoyed his time in Fayetteville.
“The visit was good,” Jean said. “Just being around the coaches feels like real coaches. They feel like real humans They’re family people before football. That’s how I am, I’m a family man. I love my family, I love my people surrounding me. The people who have supported me. Being around these coaches make me feel like great and make me feel like myself again. Because just coming up again like from high school to Florida, I was a star. I did some stuff my freshman year and couple of years just didn’t go my way, but they still remind me I’m that guy and I’m that person. They believe I can be in production. They believe I can be a starter here for sure.”
At Arkansas, Jean will play for Ronnie Fouch at wide receiver.
“Coach Fouch, great dude, humble, calm,” Jean said. “He’s like big on details. The film he showed me was great and I feel like I can fit in well. He’s detailed on everything he does.”
Jean dealt with hamstring issues at Florida, but he feels those are behind him now.
“I’ve been taking care of my body and eating the right foods,” Jean said. “So I’m locked in taking care of my body.”
