FAYETTEVILLE — On Monday, Yoakum (Texas) Class of 2024 wide receiver Zachary Taylor chose the Razorbacks for the Class of 2024.

Taylor, 6-4, 170, was on an official visit to Arkansas that concluded today. He talked about why he chose Arkansas.

“The decsion to be a Razorback it was an easy one,” Taylor said. “As soon as I got the call from (Sam) Pittman I was happy to be able to join. It’s a great opportunity for me and my family. It’s a little closer to home. I love the place, everybody has been great to me and my family. Everybody has been helpful

“Coach (Will) Kennedy has driven us around and gave us the insight. He went to school here. What it’s really like especially with Coach Pittman. I’ve heard nothing but great things here. I love the atmosphere already. I love the people. Everything here has been great.”

He played quarterback for Yoakum. In 2023 as a senior, Taylor completed 90 of 160 passes for 1,376 yards, 15 touchdowns and nine interceptions. He also rushed 91 times for 342 yards and six touchdowns. He was offered last Wednesday and actually signed Thursday before his visit.

Taylor has outstanding speed. He has been timed at 10.44 in the 100-meter dash, 21.3 in the 200 and 4.48 in the 40-yard dash. His speed is expected to help him convert to wide receiver.

“It should be a lot of fun when I get out there,” Taylor said. “I played receiver before I was a quarterback. I decided this change should and will be for the better. Not just for me but for the team too. I should be able to help the team a lot more with the position change.”

Taylor originally committed to Army in December. He’s the fifth wide receiver Arkansas has added since the conclusion of last season. Arkansas also has added Texas A&M transfer Jordan Anthony, Bentonville’s CJ Brown, South Florida transfer Khafre Brown and New Orleans (La.) Holy Cross’ Krosse Johnson.

Taylor has a 3.34 grade point average with plans to major in marketing. He will report to Arkansas on Friday.
