FAYETTEVILLE — Springtown (Texas) Class of 2027 linebacker Rome Ewell attended the Arkansas camp on Saturday hoping to make a strong impression on the coaches.

Ewell, 6-2, 210, had a good sophomore season starting for a 10-2 squad. He had 65 tackles, 25 solo, four for loss, a forced fumble and one recovered. Ewell came to the camp with some goals in mind.

“Just really work and maybe come out with an offer,” Ewell said. “I hope to get a lot of interest, but I really want to get the interest up and them keep looking at me for my junior season.”

What would an offer from Arkansas mean to you?

“Everything,” Ewell said. “They invited me to this and I just wanted to come out. It’s very beautiful here. If Arkansas it would probably be in my Top 3. It would feel pretty good to be offered here.”

UTEP offered Ewell on June 7. He also was named one of the top performers, regardless of position, at a recent TCU camp.

“I’ve also got a lot of interest from (Texas) A&M, SMU and TCU,” Ewell said.

Ewell was impressed with the facilities at Arkansas.

“Amazing, I really like it here,” Ewell said. “It feels good here. Worth the drive obviously. The drive was about five hours, 30 minutes.”

Ewell acknowledged there was a lot of talent at Arkansas on Saturday thus offering him an opportunity to see how he matched up with some of them.

“Obviously I think I can do pretty good,” Ewell said. “I’ve put in a lot of work recently to get ready to come out here and ball out.”

Ewell admits he grew up following one certain team and that is Oklahoma. He said he has camped there previously as well in the past.
